The now established Charity Torch Run will also be held this year by the Cyprus Police Torch Run,
with all the efforts of the Torch Runners starting on Wednesday, October 2 until 5 October 2, 2019.
Starting from the Presidential Palace area in Nicosia next Wednesday, the torchlight will cover all
the provinces and the Morphou area.
On Wednesday, October 2, at 9:00 am, members of the Cyprus Police Charity will take part
in a candlelight voyage to Nicosia, starting at the Presidential Palace area. At 10.30am, the
Christos Stelios Ioannou Foundation will depart, and at 12.00 pm a route will follow at the
Disabled Adult Day Care Center in Peristerona, Morfou area.
On Thursday, October 3, the route will take place in Larnaca, starting at the Agios Lazaros
Residence and Employment Center and Agios Spyridonas Special School at 9.00am.
At 12 noon on the same day, the candlelight vigil will take place in Famagusta Province, starting
from the Apostle Pavlos Special School in Liopetri.
On the morning of Friday, October 4, at 9:00, the torchbearers will continue their efforts in
Limassol, starting with the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Disabilities
(The House of Marios), and at 12:00 noon they will be at the Special Theoskepasti School in
Paphos, where they will continue their path.
The event will conclude with an event at the Kition Sports Center in Larnaca at 10am on
Saturday, October 5th.
The torchlighting of the Cyprus Police Torch Run is under the auspices of the Minister of Justice
and Public Order, Mr. George L. Savvides and the high level of protection of the President of the
Republic, Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis.
Proceeds from a fundraiser run by the Police Charity Association with the help of members of the
Police, individuals and organizations as part of this year's Torchlight events will be donated to the
Cyprus Special Olympics Federation.
The main goal of the Cyprus Police Charity through this year's Torchlight is to raise awareness of
the need to support athletes with disabilities.
The police invite the public to the provinces of each province to support the torchbearers with their
presence.
The Police Police Torch Run was founded in November 1997 and has essentially marked the
beginning of a humanitarian and social contribution of Police members to athletes with disabilities.
The goals and goals of the Association are to promote, develop and support the goals of
Special Olympics Cyprus, to raise money to support athletes with disabilities and to organize
candle-raising events to raise money for this purpose.
