Driving in unfavorable weather conditions needs attention. For this reason, we give you some simple and useful tips
Rain
The motorway surfaces are generally flat and have a very wide width, so the water flow is difficult. Due to this fact
the stopping distances are increased as well as the slip risks due to water. In case you encounter rain during your
course you have to reduce your speed and keep longer safety distances. In case of heavy rain, turn on the hazard
lights and / or the front fog lights (if such a car is).
If the falling bumps forces you to use your windscreen wipers, this should be considered as an indication that you
should reduce your speed by at least 20km / h below the permitted speed limit.
Snowfall
In areas where snowfall occurs, it is safer to travel by four-wheel drive vehicles (4x4) or vehicles equipped with
anti-slip chains.
Wind
The faster you drive, the more easily you can divert your vehicle from its course of sudden, strong and
instantaneous wind. In cases of strong wind (especially if it is lateral), the only way not to be at risk of an
unwanted side deflection is to reduce your speed.
Fog
It is certain that on the motorway, as in the rest of the road network, in case of fog, any unforeseen event can
cause an accident. An immobilized vehicle, a vehicle that deviates from its course or suddenly slows down, etc.,
is a potential hazard, which in the case of fog can be fatal. For this reason special attention and use of fog lights
are required.
Also remember:
* Preparing for a journey in bad weather requires prior checking of the vehicle's wipers and tires and careful use
of all the vehicle's main control points
* Drive your vehicles at low speeds
* Keeping distance from your vehicle ahead
* Have the lights on your vehicles
* Be constantly focused and alert
* When there are strong weather phenomena to avoid unnecessary movements
* In places where a large amount of water is collected, move very slowly or avoid attempting to enter them
