Two freezing days and nights on Sunday and Monday are the main characteristics of the weather, without, however, warnings of severe weather phenomena expected, the Meteorological Officer, Andreas Chrysanthou, told KYPE on Saturday.
Mr. Chrysanthou said that today, Saturday, there was rain in the southern and southeastern areas of Troodos, in the area of Lefkara, which may develop into storms until the evening, when the weather will become clear.
On Sunday, a short rain in the mountainous areas is not ruled out, he continued, adding that in the coming days from Sunday to Tuesday the weather will be mostly clear with some temporary clouds.
On Tuesday night, some rain is forecast on the west and north coasts, he said, stating that on Wednesday mainly clear weather is expected in most areas with some rain after noon in the mountains.
The most important feature of the weather, he noted, is the relatively cold air mass that will affect Cyprus from Saturday night until Monday, which will drop temperatures lower than normal for the season. Specifically, they will drop two to three degrees Celsius compared to Saturday and will fluctuate around 18 to 20 Celsius in the interior and the coasts and around 3 to 4 degrees in the evening in the mountainous areas
It is predicted that on Sunday and Monday the days and nights will be cold, but by Wednesday-Thursday it is expected that the temperature will rise to return to normal levels for the season, Mr. Chrysanthou pointed out.
