TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF VISITS TO THE PRIVATE CHAPEL OF SAINTS PAISIOS, PORPHYRIOS AND IAKOVOS TSALIKIS, TSADA
The Owners and Founders of the private chapel dedicated to Saints Paisios, Porphyrios and Iakovos Tsalikis, located in the community of Tsada, wish to inform the faithful and the general public that they have decided to temporarily suspend visits and unrestricted access to the chapel until further notice.
The chapel was built through their own initiative and personal contribution on a privately owned plot of land belonging to them.
This decision has been taken with great regret, but with the protection of human life and safety as an absolute priority.
The reason that led the Owners and Founders to take this decision is the safety risks posed by the access road leading to the chapel, particularly during the arrival and departure of visitors, as well as the absence of appropriate warning and directional signage.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the uphill road in Tsada, beneath which the chapel is situated, at a point where a ravine is formed, already presents serious road safety concerns. Several road traffic accidents have occurred there in the past, further heightening concerns regarding the safety of the faithful and visitors travelling to and from the chapel.
Despite repeated written letters and requests submitted to the competent authorities and relevant services, calling for the necessary measures to be taken to address the safety concerns, as well as for approval to install an appropriate directional sign indicating the way to the chapel, no positive response has been received to date, nor has a suitable solution been found.
Under these circumstances, the Owners and Founders consider that allowing visits to continue without these specific safety concerns being addressed could place visitors' safety at risk.
For the avoidance of any misunderstanding, it is hereby clarified that:
All previous public announcements and invitations informing the public that visits to the chapel were freely permitted are hereby withdrawn and shall no longer be valid.
Visits and unrestricted access to the chapel, which is situated on privately owned land belonging to the Owners and Founders, are temporarily suspended until further notice.
The faithful and all interested parties are kindly requested to respect this decision and refrain from planning or attempting to visit the chapel during this period.
The chapel was created with love, faith and personal dedication, with the sole purpose of serving as a place of prayer, tranquillity and pilgrimage for all the faithful.
The temporary suspension of visits does not diminish the Owners' and Founders' wish for the chapel to remain a place of spiritual solace and prayer. It is their sincere hope and expectation that the safety concerns will be addressed, so that the chapel may reopen to visitors at a later stage, under safe conditions.
They do not wish to wait for an unfortunate or tragic incident to occur before the need to take the necessary measures is acknowledged. For them, human life and safety are of the utmost importance.
The Owners and Founders sincerely thank the faithful and the general public for their understanding and respect for their decision.
On behalf of the Founders and Owners of the Chapel,
Spyroula Spyrou
