PSEM - CALLS ON STUDENTS TO MOBILIZE ON THURSDAY - SYMBOLIC ACTIONS OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE STUDENTS OF FRANCE - Filenews 3/11

The Pancyprian Student Coordinating Committee (PSEM) calls on the students of Cyprus to take symbolic actions in solidarity with the students of France, who are protesting against cuts in education, on Thursday, November 5, during the second break.

In a statement, PSEM expresses its support for the mobilizations of French students, which, according to it, have continued since September 17, with the main demand being the reversal of cuts amounting to €41 million from the education budget.
As he states, students in France are demanding the hiring of teachers, the replacement of teaching hours lost due to staff shortages, as well as the renovation and modernization of school infrastructure.

At the same time, they call for greater participation in decision-making regarding the operation of their schools, with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities in education.

PSEM points out that the demands of students in France do not differ significantly from those of students in Cyprus, underlining the need for public and free education, with equal access for all.

"From France to Cyprus, our demands are not much different," the organization notes, adding that the goal is an education that will cultivate critical thinking and allow each student to develop their abilities.

In conclusion, PSEM calls on students on Thursday, November 5, during the second break, to take symbolic actions of solidarity and support for students in France and their struggle.
