GREAT SEA INTERCONNECTOR - GREEK FOREIGN MINISTER SIGNS TODAY, NAVETX ISSUED, AND ABEILLE MARENGO SETS SAIL FOR SOUNDINGS - Filenews 6/11

Media reports in Greece insist that today it is possible that Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis will sign the permit requested by Nexans for the resumption of maritime exploration southeast of Karpathos.

If the information is confirmed, Gerapetritis' signature will pave the way for the issuance of the navtex by the Greek authorities.

From the issuance of the navtex to the departure of the ship Abeille Marengo from the port of Heraklion where it has been docked for days, it will take a few days for the completion of the last technical procedures.
According to ERT, there are some final steps that need to be taken for the issuance of navtex. The French Nexans has contracted the conduct of the surveys to the Italian Next Geosolutions Europe SpA, which has already sent to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs the coordinates of the areas where the surveys will be carried out in the coming months. The issuance of the navtex, possibly over the weekend, will be made by the Hydrographic Service of the Navy.

Media reports in Greece state that the Turkish government is aware of the current procedures and the imminent issuance of navtex by the Greek authorities. It is considered certain that the Turkish side will then issue the so-called anti-navtex, something it has repeatedly done for work carried out in the EEZ of Greece and Cyprus, without this action hindering field research.
