The "Digital Citizen" acquires from October 26, 2026, a new function that helps citizens monitor the expiration of their documents and take care of their renewal in time.
As stated in an announcement by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, citizens automatically receive notifications on their mobile phones 30 and 15 days before the expiration of the documents they have added to the application, as well as their expiration day.
If the citizen has already issued a new document, upon entering the application after receiving the notification, he is automatically led to the process of integrating the new document into the "Digital Citizen", it is added.
Expired documents remain visible in the app until they are replaced or deleted.
According to the announcement, the application continues to be enriched with new features, while within the next few days the addition of foreigner residence documents will be announced, while within the year it is planned to add tickets for sports matches, completing the Fan Card that is already available in the application.
It is noted that the aim of the "Digital Citizen" is to facilitate the daily transactions of citizens, offering direct access to their documents through their mobile phone.
The Deputy Ministry invites citizens to use the application and, in case they face difficulties in accepting their digital documents, to inform about it at info@dmrid.gov.cy email address.
It is reminded that the digital documents created through the "Digital Citizen" have the same validity as the corresponding physical documents, but do not constitute international travel documents.
The "Digital Citizen" application is available free of charge for iOS and Android devices, through the App Store and Google Play, the announcement concludes.
