KISSONERGA'S BANANA FESTIVAL - Kissonerga Square - 18 October

KISSONERGA'S BANANA FESTIVAL

Kissonerga Square

18 October - 3pm - 9pm

The municipal district of the municipality of Akamas or Kissonerga is preparing for this year's Banana Festival. This fruit is grown exclusively in the municipality of Akamas, in the districts of Pegeia and Kissonerga. The Banana Festival will take place on Sunday, October 18, from 15:00 to 21:00, in Kissonerga Square, inviting residents and visitors to a beautiful autumn gathering.

Banana cultivation is inextricably linked to the history, economy and identity of Kissonerga. The characteristic banana plantations of the area have been an integral part of the landscape of western Paphos for decades, while the small Cypriot banana stands out for its intense aroma and sweet taste. Through the festival, the community seeks to highlight this important product, but also the people who continue to cultivate it with knowledge, patience and passion.

For six hours, the square of Kissonerga will be transformed into a lively place of meeting, taste and entertainment. The banana will, of course, have the first say, giving the inspiration for various sweet creations and preparations. At the same time, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know local production better and discover the close relationship of the community with agriculture.

The event is also a nice occasion for a Sunday trip to the province of Paphos and an acquaintance with Kissonerga. The festival aspires to bring all ages together, in a hospitable environment that combines tradition, local gastronomy and the joy of human encounter.

More than just a celebration of a beloved fruit, the Banana Festival is a way to showcase Kissonerga's agricultural heritage and remind the importance of supporting local producers and Cypriot produce.
