The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.
As a result of the preventive police operations, twelve persons were arrested for various offenses such as, illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, illegal possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol, drunkenness and anxiety.
As part of these operations, during the night, 724 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 924 persons on board were checked. At the same time, 76 inspections were carried out in premises with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency, during which 13 complaints emerged.
During traffic checks carried out, 319 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations, while 15 investigated cases of traffic violations also emerged.
Of the complaints made, 113 concerned exceeding the speed limit, while as part of the police investigations, 26 vehicles were detained.
385 alcohol tests were carried out, from which 34 complaints emerged, as well as 3 preliminary drug tests with a negative result.
Policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue daily, with an increased/enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing the sense of security of citizens/protecting citizens and ensuring public order.

Two drivers were spotted in the early hours of this morning in Larnaca and Nicosia, driving with a quantity of alcohol of 131μg and 79μg respectively.
Specifically, during traffic checks, members of the Police stopped a car moving on Anexartisias Avenue in Alethriko for a check.
The driver was a 45-year-old man who underwent a breathalyzer test with a final reading of 131μg instead of 22μg which is the maximum limit by the Law.
Also, in the province of Nicosia, members of the Police stopped a car on Spyros Kyprianou Avenue in Nicosia, which was driven by a 24-year-old, for a check.

The two drivers were served with a document of guarantee to appear tomorrow morning before the District Courts of Larnaca and Nicosia for immediate registration.
Also, a 21-year-old man in Nicosia was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample during a breathalyzer test.
He was then released after being served with a document of guarantee to appear tomorrow morning before the Nicosia District Court for immediate registration.
The Police in Larnaca arrested two persons, aged 38 and 52, yesterday, as part of an investigation into cases of burglary and theft from residences, which were committed between July and October 2026 in the province of Larnaca.
Specifically, on 28/07/2026, a 63-year-old woman reported the theft of her wallet from her home. The wallet contained, among other things, a sum of money in excess of 600 euros and credit cards. From the examinations that followed, an arrest warrant was obtained against a 38-year-old woman, who was wanted.
In addition, on 02/10/2026, an 85-year-old woman reported the theft of her wallet from her home, which contained, among other things, a sum of money over 100 euros and a credit card. On the same day, it was found that the 85-year-old's credit card was used in various stores in Larnaca.
From the examinations that followed, testimony emerged against the 38-year-old and 52-year-old, against whom arrest warrants were obtained on the same day. The two suspects were arrested yesterday afternoon by members of the Larnaca OPE, while they were traveling in a vehicle.
The arrested are expected to appear today before the Larnaca District Court for the purpose of issuing a detention order.
