French violinist Jean-Samuel Bez presents Bach Extended at Technopolis 20 in Paphos on Friday, 6 November 2026, a solo recital exploring three centuries of music through the extraordinary possibilities of the violin.
At the heart of the programme is Johann Sebastian Bach's Partita No. 2 in D minor, whose movements are interwoven with works from the 20th and 21st centuries. Bach becomes the guiding thread of an evening that moves from the folk-inspired worlds of Béla Bartók and George Enescu to the meditative music of Franz Rechsteiner, the rich polyphony of Eugène Ysaÿe, the virtuosity of Fritz Kreisler, and the rhythms of Astor Piazzolla's tango.
From a single melodic line to the illusion of several simultaneous voices, from contemplation to dance and virtuosity, Bach Extended reveals the remarkable range of colours and characters that can emerge from just four strings.
Jean-Samuel Bez performs more than 100 concerts each year and is particularly active in chamber music, contemporary creation and the rediscovery of lesser-known repertoire. His discography includes Fantaisies, Étincelles and Secrets, as well as several recordings with Trio Spilliaert. He studied in France, Belgium and Vienna, where his teachers included Michael Frischenschlager.
