The debt of the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous to the community of Goudi for the water supply of its areas from water managed by the community amounts to the amount of €69,000 and not the €55,000 that were the initial estimates.
Exclusive information from "F" states that from the audit of the financial pending issues carried out after the first interruption of the water supply decided as a pressure measure by the Goudi Community Council, it emerged that the amount owed to the local authority by the neighbouring Municipality amounts to the specific amount that is significantly higher than previously thought.
The community authority had announced at the end of September that it would proceed on October 2 with a first interruption of the water supply of the Municipality of Polis, after the continued refusal of the municipal authority to pay the due amount that arose and accumulated from the time before the reform of the Local Government, when the community of Chrysochous was supplied with water from the water resources of Goudi. The arrangement for the service of the village of Chrysochou with water from Goudi was made in 1974, when a large number of refugees from the Turkish invasion settled in the community. With the reform, as it is known, Chrysochou is now a municipal district of the Municipality of Polis.
On October 2, the announced interruption of the water supply in the specific municipal district of the Municipality of Polis took place for a period of only three hours, in order to enable those involved to proceed with the settlement of the financial pending issue before the measures are intensified. The information of "F" states that in the meantime, arrangements and contacts were indeed made between the municipal and community authorities, with the involvement of the competent state services, and the gradual repayment of the debt was agreed in a short period of time.
The community authority of Goudi has announced that if the assurances for the repayment of the amount due are not settled based on the agreements, it will proceed to an indefinite interruption of the water supply of the specific apartment of the Municipality of Polis.
