ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - HOW RELIABLE IS IT IN DIAGNOSING CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE?

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - HOW RELIABLE IS IT IN DIAGNOSING CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE? - Filenews 3/10

Artificial Intelligence, with a history dating back to 1943, has undergone an impressive evolution and today it is part of our daily lives. Its use has now even expanded to health issues, with many turning to Artificial Intelligence applications for medical questions.

It is now common for patients to come to the doctor's office and have in their hands a diagnosis for the problem they have and the treatment and of course the doctor is called to do the prescriber. The question is what role the doctor is called upon to play when many errors have been found in what Artificial Intelligence gives and of course the doctor should have the readiness and persuasion to explain to the patient that it is another thing for the doctor to examine you who will also perform medical acts that artificial intelligence cannot do and through them will make the diagnosis and treatment.
AI in medicine is a useful tool in the hands of doctors to aid their work. They can diagnose problems on a CT or MRI scan and assist the Radiologist in his opinion or the Cardiologist in difficult problems. Modern cardiographs, which are the first examination performed in a cardiology clinic, also issue an opinion and can diagnose arrhythmias or coronary episodes.

A question in Artificial Intelligence stating the symptoms will be answered for possible diagnosis, tests and treatment. The doctor is called upon to filter from them what he should do and with the question then wandering why the doctor studied. Significant errors have been found in diagnoses and recommended treatments by Artificial Intelligence because it answers what you ask. If the patient gives something wrong, then you will get the wrong answer and here is the role of the doctor who has the ability to give more rational answers to the patient with the clinical examination.

However, we should not neglect its benefits, which are:the fastest and most accurate diagnosis
the reduction of costs and unnecessary examinations

The strengthening of prevention.

On the other hand, ethical issues of personal data are raised, in case of a mistake the responsibility lies with the doctor and the dependence on technology will probably weaken the clinical judgment.

The role of Artificial Intelligence is complementary to Medicine and clearly helps in faster diagnosis and treatment without weakening clinical thinking. Our complete dependence on machines only harms humanity with consequences that we do not want to think about.
