It is fortunate that there were no injuries from the collapse of a balcony in a dangerous building in Limassol, which ended up on the balcony of the lower floor.
The incident took place around 10 am on Thursday (24/9), in the "Roussos Olympic Palace" building complex, on Georgiou Katsounou Street, which is included in the dangerous buildings for which procedures are underway by the District Local Government Organization (EOA) of Limassol for evacuation.
According to the information, the balcony of the 5th floor gave way and part of it ended up on the balcony of the 4th floor.
Members of the Police, Civil Defense and Fire Service, as well as officials of the EOA Limassol, rushed to the scene in order to examine the situation and take the necessary security measures.
The tenants of the building will be temporarily accommodated for two days, on the basis of an evacuation decree of the Ministry of the Interior.
Information we obtained states that tenants in rented apartments live in the building.
It is a building complex consisting of two blocks, with a total of 58 apartments. In Block A there are 38 apartments, while in Block B there are 18 apartments.
The collapse of the balcony occurred in Block B.
It is noted that a similar incident had occurred in 2022 in the same apartment building.
The building has been classified as dangerous and is included in the list of buildings for which procedures are underway by the EOA Limassol.
