TALA CARE CENTRE READY TO OPERATE - Pafos Live 22/9
The Archbishop of Cyprus George will perform the Blessing of the Relief Center in Tala.
The center is ready to operate according to the community leader Talas Giannakis Konikkos.
It is recalled that a British couple permanent residents of Tala have granted their mansion in the "Stefani" area for the creation of a palliative care center under the responsibility of the non-profit organization Hospis. The center will operate in a green and quiet environment in the area of "Stefani" in Tala.
This new structure – intervention of volunteers of our community, notes the community leader Talas Giannakis Konikkos "whom as a community council we want to thank from the bottom of our hearts and congratulate them for their magnanimity, will offer free, comprehensive and continuous palliative care to patients with terminal cancer, as well as to their families, with the aim of achieving the best possible quality of life."
A specialized multidisciplinary team of health professionals including doctors, nurses, social workers and physiotherapists, will provide palliative care services to patients to manage pain and relieve other physical symptoms, as well as psychosocial and spiritual support services, and counselling services in their family environment.
"We, as a community council, are happy about the choice of the space, which as you can see is the most suitable in a very quiet and green environment and we promise that we will support their efforts with all our might."
The center has been fully equipped and volunteer doctors will monitor patients on a daily basis while the center will employ nurses.
The project of converting the residence into the new headquarters of the Pafos Hospice Palliative Care Unit was undertaken by the architect Giannis Koutsolambros.
The Blessing by Archbishop George will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
