Why is it called the "Corn Moon"
The name 'Corn Moon' comes from the indigenous people of North America, as this full moon coincided with the harvest season of corn, pumpkin, beans and rice.
The bright light of the full moon helped farmers to work at night, which is why it was closely associated with rural life and the seasons. If it happens to fall close to the autumn equinox, this moon is also called the "Harvest Moon" – which is not the case for 2025, as this property passes into the next full moon, in October.
