MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Famagusta–Larnaca–Larnaca Airport Motorway
Watering operations will be carried out by the Department of Forests on the embankments of the Larnaca Airport–Paralimni, Larnaca–Kofinou, and Larnaca–Nicosia motorways (in both directions) from July 27, 2026, to September 30, 2026. Work will take place Mondays through Thursdays, between 08:30 and 14:30. During these operations, a section of the motorway shoulder will be closed off, moving in 300-meter segments at a time. Traffic flow will not be affected.

On the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, as well as the Larnaca-Famagusta and Larnaca-Nicosia motorways, the Department of Forests will be carrying out watering operations on the motorway embankments in both directions between July 27, 2026, and September 30, 2026. Work will take place from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 08:30 and 14:30. During these operations, a section of the motorway shoulder will be closed off, moving in 300-meter segments at a time. Traffic flow will not be affected.
On the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, between July 27, 2026, and September 30, 2026, watering operations will be carried out on the motorway embankments in both directions from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 08:30 and 14:30. During these operations, a section of the motorway shoulder will be closed off, moving in 300-meter segments at a time. Traffic flow will not be affected. Along the entire length of the Larnaca–Kofinou motorway—in both directions and including interchanges—work involving the cutting, pruning, and removal of acacia and other trees from the road shoulders and embankments will take place from Monday, September 21, 2026, to Friday, October 9, 2026 (excluding weekends and public holidays), between 08:30 and 16:30. During these operations, sections of the motorway shoulder will be closed intermittently; however, traffic will continue to flow without interruption in the traffic lanes.
Larnaca–Nicosia Motorway
On the Larnaca–Nicosia motorway, as well as the Larnaca–Famagusta and Larnaca–Kofinou motorways, the Department of Forests will carry out watering operations on the embankments in both directions between July 27, 2026, and September 30, 2026. This work will take place from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 08:30 and 14:30. During the works, a section of the motorway shoulder will be closed, in 300-meter segments at a time. Traffic flow will not be affected.
On the Larnaca–Nicosia motorway, between July 27, 2026, and September 30, 2026—from Monday to Thursday, between 08:30 and 14:30—watering operations will be carried out on the motorway embankments in both directions. During the works, a section of the motorway shoulder will be closed, in 300-meter segments at a time. Traffic flow will not be affected.
On the Larnaca–Nicosia motorway, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 06:00 to 13:00, work will be carried out to install a weigh-in-motion system. During the works, one traffic lane (alternating) of the motorway heading towards Nicosia will be closed—specifically, a 300-meter stretch between the Rizoelia roundabout and the "Panagia ton Ampelion" overpass. ...and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, guided by appropriate temporary road signage.
Limassol-Nicosia Motorway
On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway—specifically between the GSP roundabout and the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway (A2) in both directions—the Department of Forests will carry out periodic watering of plants on the road shoulders and embankments. These works will take place daily (excluding weekends and public holidays) from Wednesday, 08/07/2026, to Wednesday, 30/09/2026, between the hours of 08:30 and 15:00. On the Limassol-Nicosia motorway—in both directions, along the section between the GSP roundabout and the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway—the Department of Forests will carry out periodic plant-watering operations on the verges and embankments. These works will take place daily (excluding weekends and public holidays) from 08:30 to 14:30, starting Friday, October 2, 2026, and ending Monday, November 30, 2026. During the operations, sections of the verge will be closed off—approximately 300 meters at a time, per direction. Traffic flow will not be affected.
Limassol-Paphos Motorway
On the section of the motorway between Erimi and Petra tou Romiou, the Department of Forests will carry out periodic watering operations on the central reservation from Monday, 07/09/2026, to Tuesday, 15/12/2026. These works will take place between 07:00 and 15:00, excluding weekends. During the operations, the right-hand traffic lane will be closed over a distance of approximately 2,000 meters, and traffic will be diverted to the left-hand lane.
Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki Motorway
On the Nicosia-Deneia motorway—specifically between the Archangelos interchange and the Kokkinotrimithia roundabout in both directions—the Department of Forests will carry out periodic watering operations for plants on the road shoulders and embankments. These works will take place from Wednesday, 08/07/2026, to Wednesday, 30/09/2026, daily (excluding weekends and public holidays) between 08:30 and 15:00. Limassol – Saittas Motorway
Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the "Improvement of Ammochostou Avenue in Nicosia" project, works lasting 24 months are being carried out starting February 20, 2025, with completion expected by February 22, 2027. Specifically, the project covers Ammochostou Avenue—from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout (a length of approximately 1.7 km)—and a secondary road network of approximately 0.8 km, comprising sections of Kalavryton, Pafou, Madaris, and Semelis streets.
Limassol District
On the Limassol – Troodos road, near "Psilo Dendro," a private company will carry out construction works for a retaining wall—incorporating mesh to raise existing wall sections—from Monday, August 24, 2026, to Wednesday, December 23, 2026. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a distance of approximately 100 meters, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights.
On the Episkopi-Mandria road, near the village of Souni-Zanatzia, a private company—acting on behalf of the Water Development Department—will carry out water pipeline installation works from Monday, 31/08/2026, to Thursday, 31/12/2026. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a distance of approximately 100 meters, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights.
Larnaca District
On the Larnaca Airport–Paralimni, Larnaca–Kofinou, and Larnaca–Nicosia motorways in the Larnaca District, the Department of Forests will carry out watering operations on the motorway embankments in both directions. These works will take place from 27/07/2026 to 30/09/2026, between the hours of 08:30 and 14:30, from Monday to Thursday. During the works, a section of the motorway shoulder will be closed in 300-meter segments at a time. Traffic flow will not be affected.
In Larnaca, reconstruction work will be carried out on Faneromeni Avenue from Monday, September 14, 2026, to Friday, October 16, 2026. During the works, both traffic lanes in the direction from the ‘Faneromeni’ roundabout to the ‘K-Cineplex’ roundabout will remain closed for a distance of approximately 1,000 meters. Vehicle traffic will be diverted via adjacent roads in accordance with appropriate temporary signage. Traffic in the opposite direction—from the ‘K-Cineplex’ roundabout to the ‘Faneromeni’ roundabout—will proceed without interruption.
On the old Larnaca–Kofinou road, pipeline construction work will be carried out by the Water Development Department from Monday, August 31, 2026, to Friday, September 25, 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, daily except weekends. During the aforementioned period, a section of the road between the villages of Anglisides and Kofinou—spanning approximately 100 meters—will be closed at three points simultaneously, and traffic will be diverted to an adjacent lane controlled by traffic lights.
In Oroklini, reconstruction work on a section of Okeanias Street will take place from Monday, September 14, 2026, through Friday, October 30, 2026. During the works, the section of Okeanias Street extending from its junction with Ploutonos Street to its junction with Mesaorias Street will remain closed to vehicular traffic. Traffic will be diverted via Ploutonos, Selinis, and Mesaorias Streets.
