They are happy to lose this record and not to hold it, contrary to what usually happens. The reason for the Kissonerga district of the Municipality of Akamas and the record it held for years is the area with the most speed bumps on its road surface.
Kissonerga has maintained for years, from the time it was a community before the reform of the Local Government that included it in the Municipality of Akamas, this different record, which caused more and more irritation to thousands of people moving from its main avenue to Coral Bay and to the city of Paphos: A total of 11 speed bumps, on a road only a few hundred meters long, it was recognized by everyone as an exaggeration.
However, this situation has changed in recent months. The Municipality of Akamas, in collaboration with the competent state services, started the removal of curves on Christou Kkeli Avenue that were deemed not to serve the purpose for which these curves are created. After a study carried out by the competent departments, it was decided to remove the first four, some more followed, while for the time being the curves located outside the schools of the community and near vertical intersections remain.
The Mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, who supervised the whole process, in his statements to "F" spoke of the necessary correction of an exaggeration and called on drivers to be careful in the new conditions that are created.
