The total occupancy of the dams stood at 39.3% on September 1, with water reserves amounting to 117.9 million. cubic meters, according to the data of the Water Development Department.

The picture is clearly improved compared to the corresponding period last year, when occupancy was only 15.5% and the stored quantity at 46.4 million. cubic meters. Despite the significant increase, the current levels remain significantly lower than those of September 2022, when occupancy had reached 76%.

In the last three months, a period when evaporative losses are increased due to high temperatures, total stocks have decreased by about 7 million cubic meters.

Four dams over 85%

Of the 21 dams, four are at a level of occupancy above 85%. Kalopanagiotis is at 100%, Klirou-Malounda-Akaki at 89.7%, Solea at 88% and Tamasou at 86%.

Xyliatos with 82%, Vyzakia with 79% and Pomos with 70% are at a good level.

At a moderate level, Agia Marina Chrysochous with 59%, Arminou with 58%, Argaka with 56% and Germasogeia with 52% are recorded.

Six dams at low levels

Occupancy remains low in six dams. Kannaviou is at 45%, Polemidia at 44%, Evretou at 42%, while Kouris and Mavrokolympos are at 39%. Asprokremmos records an occupancy rate of 38%.

The picture is even more difficult in four dams where the occupancy is below 35%. Dipotamos is at 29%, Kalavasos at 23%, Lefkara at 18%, while the Achna dam is limited to only 1%.
