A 52-year-old man was located and arrested, who was wanted as part of the investigation of a case of conspiracy to commit a felony, burglary of a residence and theft, and illegal possession and transport of a firearm.
This is a case of burglary of a house in the province of Paphos, committed on November 07, 2025. A double-barrelled shotgun and an air gun were stolen from the residence.
As part of the investigation of the case, a court arrest warrant was issued against the 52-year-old. His photo and details were released by the Police, on 12/12/2025, for the purpose of collecting information that could lead to his identification.
The 52-year-old was located and arrested by members of the Police, by virtue of a court warrant. At the end of the interrogations in relation to him, he was released. After the location of the 52-year-old, the continuation of the publication of the photo and his details is unnecessary.
For the same case, two other persons had been arrested. Specifically, a 33-year-old man was arrested on 11/11/2025, by virtue of a court warrant, while on 20/01/2026 a 25-year-old man was arrested, also by virtue of a court warrant.

As a result of the preventive police operations, twelve persons were arrested for various offenses such as illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, theft, drunkenness, anxiety and assault on a police officer.
As part of these operations, during the night, 559 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 716 persons on board were checked. At the same time, 41 inspections were carried out in premises with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency, during which 3 complaints emerged.
During traffic checks carried out, 350 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations, while 11 investigated cases of traffic violations also emerged.
Of the complaints made, 80 concerned exceeding the speed limit, while as part of the police examinations, 10 vehicles were detained.
157 alcohol tests were carried out, from which 3 complaints emerged, as well as a preliminary drug test with a positive result.
Policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue daily, with an increased/enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing the sense of security of citizens/protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
The District Court of Nicosia issued an eight-day detention order today, Tuesday, against two persons, in connection with the attempted murder committed in the early hours of the morning in Nicosia against a 21-year-old man.
These are two young men from India, 24 and 21 years old, who are allegedly involved in the attempted murder of a 21-year-old compatriot, who is being treated at the Nicosia General Hospital in critical condition.
According to information from Filenews, the Police are investigating the possible cause of the attempt to be rivalries over an Iraqi woman, who was claimed by the two Indians. In particular, the possibility that the 24-year-old, who is also alleged to be the perpetrator, had an affair with the woman for some time, who ended, while then it seems that the 21-year-old claimed her.
It is not excluded and it is something that the investigators of the TAE Nicosia are examining, that the 24-year-old reclaimed the young woman, which is why the bloody incident happened where he ended in an attempted murder. According to our same information, the other 21-year-old who was arrested is said to be an accomplice in the attempt, as information is being examined that implicates him in the case, specifically that he supplied the perpetrator with a dangerous instrument.
The investigations of the members of the TAE continue and a statement is expected to be taken from the Iraqi woman to clarify some details, while at the same time the knife with which the attempted murder was carried out is being sought.
As the Police had announced, around 1:15 in the morning today, information was received that a 21-year-old man had been taken to Nicosia General Hospital injured. Based on the evidence so far, the 21-year-old was allegedly attacked with a knife by another person.

An incident with a prisoner as a prisoner on trial in the Central Prison took place yesterday afternoon, as a result of which a prison guard was attacked and had to have his wounds stitched up.
The incident took place shortly before 3 p.m. when a prison guard and a prisoner, who, according to our information, has caused problems in prison on other occasions, were discussing in the yard of wing no. 5. At some point, the defendant allegedly attacked the prison guard with a headbutt and injured him in the lips.
Staff members immediately intervened and isolated the prisoner who was moved to the maximum security wing and will face the consequences.
The prison guard received first aid inside the penitentiary where his lips were sutured.
The defendant who caused the attack is in prison along with three other people and faces charges in connection with the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos in October 2023 in Limassol.

A 17-year-old man was located today 01/09/2026 and arrested, who was wanted as part of the investigation of the case of assault and rioting, committed in the period August 23-24, 2026, at the auxiliary stadium of the "Famagusta" stadium, where an event was held for the fans of the Nea Salamina club.
Following his arrest today, the 17-year-old, as well as the other six persons, aged between 17 and 23, who were arrested on 31/08/2026, were brought before the Larnaca District Court, for the issuance of a detention order. The Court approved the request of the Police and issued a three-day detention order, for the purpose of investigating the case.
For the same case, another person, aged 22, was arrested on 30/08/2026. The 22-year-old is in four-day detention, pursuant to a decree issued yesterday 31/08/2026, by the Larnaca District Court, also for the purpose of investigating the case.
The Police continue the investigations to identify and locate a number of other suspects.
The exams are continued by the TAE of Larnaca.

A serious traffic accident occurred about an hour after midnight on Nikaias Street, in the area of Ypsonas, resulting in the serious injury of a 19-year-old motorcyclist.
According to the information, under circumstances that are being investigated, the young man lost control of the motorcycle he was driving, as a result of which he crashed into a sign, at the point of the roundabout, and then overturned.
The 19-year-old was seriously injured by the impact and was taken to the Limassol General Hospital, where he is being treated for fractures in various parts of his body.
Members of the Limassol Traffic Police rushed to the scene for examinations. However, when they arrived at the scene, the motorcycle was not there, as it appears that it was pulled away by persons who rushed to the scene.
Members of the Traffic Police are expected to take a statement from the 19-year-old, as soon as his health condition allows. According to the information so far, the young man seems not to have been wearing a protective helmet during the accident.

The file of the criminal case concerning the Taxan company and the former MP and president of EDEK, Marinos Sizopoulos, is back to the Police.
At the end of last June, the Police had formed a file with the findings of the investigative work they were called upon to do, after the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Authority. We remind you that the Authority had concluded (12/9/2025) that criminal offenses may have been committed during the process of selling the company by Sizopoulos and his partners to a foreign investor, with the aim of eliminating a loan amount from a banking organization.
The police force then forwarded the evidence gathered to the Legal Service. However, in August, the latter decided that further investigative work should be done.
Yesterday, "F", trying to be informed about the development of the case, and whether it was decided to prosecute, was duly informed that "the file in mid-August has been returned to the Police for additional actions".
Fraud case
Based on the investigation and conclusion of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority made public in September 2025, the former president of EDEK, Marinos Sizopoulos and at least three other persons who had a corporate stake in Taxan may have committed the offenses of (1) fraud, (2) forgery and preparation of a forged document, (3) circulation of a forged document and (4) of the conspiracy to defraud.
We remind you that after this development, the Legal Service initiated a procedure to lift the parliamentary immunity of Sizopoulos, since at that time his term in the previous parliamentary scheme had not been completed. The request was filed before the Supreme Court at the beginning of last March and was approved, with Sizopoulos' defense not raising an objection.
Since 2017
The case has already turned into a serial, while questions are being raised as to whether the multi-year delay will serve the purpose of administering justice, either by acquitting the persons under investigation, or by a possible conviction.
The disputed events that are the subject of the investigation took place in 2017, while a relevant police investigation was also carried out in 2019, when a relevant complaint was filed.
The case, although it saw the light of day in 2021 (2/2/21) through our publication, was considered closed for years. She came back to the fore when she was denounced by the former EDEK MP, Giorgos Varnavas, to the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority.
The facts
Marinos Sizopoulos is being investigated for the circumstances under which a problematic loan of €2,581,000 of the company Taxan Properties Developers Ltd was settled in 2017. Following an agreement between the shareholders of Taxan and the Bank, the latter would receive €1,625,000, an amount that would result from the sale of the company to an Iraqi investor and at the same time write off €956,000. The operation was implemented at the end of 2017.
The conclusion of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, however, spoke of a criminal issue that arose. It turned out, in particular, that the actual sale of Taxan's shares to the Iraqi investor was €2,025,000. This was proven on the basis of data declared to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the context of the naturalization of the Iraqi businessman. The same amount was shown by an investigation by the Tax Department.
When the Bank was informed of this, according to the conclusion of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, it filed a complaint with the Police, as if it had known the real amount of the company's sale, it would have had a different attitude in the negotiations for the settlement of the problematic loan.
The document
According to what was revealed on 12/9/2025 by the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, Mr. Sizopoulos was aware of the actual amount of the sale of Taxan based on a document signed by the MP himself.
This document was revealed by "F" on September 16, 2025. Mr. Sizopoulos had placed his signature on a document, which presents him as having knowledge of the €2,025,000 contract dated October 4, 20217.
The 2019 survey
The Police had done another investigation into the same case. He had forwarded a file to the Legal Service in August 2019. About a year later, in July 2020, the Attorney General's office decided not to pursue any prosecutions. We had brought the case to light for the first time on 2/2/2021 through our report on a website.
Sizopoulos states that he is a victim of fraud
Marinos Sizopoulos categorically denies involvement in any illegal action. In various television appearances after the conclusion of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority (9/25), but also in the two proceedings in the Supreme Court that took place last March for the lifting of his parliamentary immunity, his positions were on the same wavelength.
He said he was deceived by one of his other three partners in Taxan, saying he never knew the actual amount of the company's shares sold to an Iraqi investor. He insisted that he had reported the case to the Police in 2019, and after first realizing the fraud.
In remarks about the document revealed by "F" and which presented his knowledge of the actual sale amount, he said that there are answers and that he will give them at the right time. When he was persistently asked by RIK about the issue of the document brought to light by "F", he had stated that "I cannot reveal my details and advantages".
It should also be noted that Mr. Sizopoulos did not object to the lifting of his parliamentary immunity. His lawyer Christos Triantafyllidis, justifying this position, had said about his client: "He wants to facilitate the administration of justice. It has absolutely nothing to hide. And as you will see from the content of the application, the case in 2019 had started with Mr. Sizopoulos complaining about the facts that are now attributed to him."
