The timeless contribution of the Cyprus Police, the Fire Service and the National Guard is honored by a new commemorative series of stamps, which was presented today at the Amphitheater of the Press and Information Office.
During the presentation, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Evi Tsolaki, highlighted the symbolism of the issue, noting that the stamps reflect the contribution of the women and men who serve in the three institutions, often under difficult and demanding conditions.
Ms. Tsolaki described each stamp as "a small document of the history, identity and values of a place", pointing out that this issue conveys to Cyprus and abroad messages about offering, responsibility, readiness and dedication to duty.
Referring to the three institutions, the Minister noted that the Cyprus Police has the responsibility to protect public safety and order, the Fire Service responds to fires, natural disasters and other emergencies, while the National Guard has the mission of defending and defending the territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus.
Particular reference was made to the mission of the National Guard, which, as Ms. Tsolaki noted, acquires particular importance due to the ongoing consequences of the Turkish invasion and occupation.
The Minister also underlined that, for the Government of President Nikos Christodoulides, security is a fundamental public good and a basic condition for a free, democratic and functional society. As he mentioned, the effective protection of citizens and the country requires modern means, appropriate training, operational readiness and close cooperation between the competent services.
Ms. Tsolaki expressed the State's appreciation to the staff of the Police, the Fire Service and the National Guard, stressing that through the commemorative series, every woman and every man who serves is honored with professionalism, consistency and a sense of duty.
The event was organized on the initiative of the Cyprus Post. The new series of stamps is expected to be, according to the Minister, a message of respect and gratitude to those who work for the safety and protection of citizens.
