Prices of fresh vegetables and frozen molluscs saw the biggest increases in July, while laundry detergents and LPG cylinders recorded the biggest decreases compared to the previous month, according to the Consumer Products Price Observatory of the Consumer Protection Service. Overall, out of the 45 product categories, 31 recorded an increase, 13 a decrease and one remained unchanged compared to June. Compared to July 2025, increases were recorded in 39 out of 45 categories.
According to the Consumer Protection Service, the July assessment "reflects the continued price increase recorded by the Statistical Service over the last four months, since the start of the war in the Middle East, with an annual inflation rate of +2.9% compared to +3.1% in June, +2.5% in May and +2.8% in April".
It is noted that this is mainly due to "the large increase in Petroleum Products by +12.2% and Agricultural Products by +8.2%".
According to the announcement, for the month of July, out of a total of 45 categories, 31 categories recorded an increase, 13 categories decreased and one category remained unchanged compared to the previous month.
At the same time, 39 of the 45 categories recorded increases compared to July 2025.
Specifically, an increase compared to the previous month was recorded in fresh vegetables and greens, with an increase of 32.4%. On an annual basis, the increase amounted to 46%.
Frozen molluscs and shellfish followed, with an increase of 12.3% on a monthly basis and 0.8% on an annual basis.
An increase of 3.6% was recorded in grilling charcoals, while compared to July 2025 the increase amounted to 5.1%.
Cooking broth increased by 3.5% month-on-month and 8.4% year-on-year.
Vegetable cooking fat recorded an increase of 3.1% compared to the previous month and 6.7% compared to July 2025.
Both pasta and oil increased by 2.2%. On an annual basis, the increases amounted to 4.8% and 2.1%, respectively.
A decrease compared to the previous month was recorded in 13 product categories.
The largest decrease was recorded by laundry detergents with 5.2%. On an annual basis, however, they recorded an increase of 5.2%.
The LPG cylinder followed, with a decrease of 4.2% on a monthly basis, while compared to July 2025 its price increased by 16.9%.
Soft drinks fell by 2.5%, while on an annual basis they recorded an increase of 6.4%.
A decrease of 2.2% was recorded for frozen fish, with the annual increase amounting to 7.4%.
Finally, frozen breaded and pre-cooked fish decreased by 1.6% compared to the previous month and by 18.3% compared to July 2025.
