The G.S. Koroivos, the old stadium of the city, remains on the agenda of the institutions of Paphos with the aim of upgrading and modernizing it in a way that it will be a hive of sports activity of the local community and not a remnant of past eras as it has been in recent years.
Sports and social institutions of the city and province came up with the plan and took the decision to transform the historically charged space into a hive of activities that will be open to the local community, instead of only the two schools to which it belongs spatially. These bodies emphasize that Paphos is one of the provinces that lags behind in sports infrastructure, since there is only one indoor sports hall with basic modern infrastructure, there are no tennis courts, while there is a football field that is essentially not accessible to people who would like to play sports.
The stadium in the city center, which for decades was synonymous with football in Paphos through Evagoras and APOP, with the right design, can be the Municipal Sports Center of Paphos, these officials emphasize. Tennis courts, basketball courts, a football field that can be converted into small football fields can be created, a track for classical sports and a small café for recreation can be created around the perimeter, they argue. All this can be made possible without the Municipality and the state wasting a lot of money, they point out, while in addition the G.S. Koroivos has the advantage of being located in the city center, so it can be used not only by schools as before, but also by a large number of people, as a result of which the center of Paphos regains its former glory and is full of life.
