Both the police and the internal investigation of the case involving the four-year-old child with viral meningitis are underway, on the occasion of today's protest outside the Limassol General Hospital.
In a statement, the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) reiterates the following:
1. A police investigation is underway for this incident to establish the facts, in the context of which testimonies have already been taken, among other things, from the personnel involved.
2. At the same time, the internal investigation of the case continues, in accordance with the prescribed procedures and the applicable regulations of the Organization.
3. OKYPY points out that, in the context of the investigation of the case, it is important to preserve the fundamental principles of the rule of law, including the presumption of innocence, until the completion of the competent procedures, avoiding any characterizations.
OKYPY fully cooperates and provides all necessary assistance to the competent authorities for the conduct of any independent investigation. At the same time, it assures that, as a Public Law Organization with accredited services and strict quality assurance procedures, it strictly implements mechanisms that guarantee the immediate, impartial and objective investigation of any allegation or complaint.
