The misery in the Prisons and the third world conditions that prevail are brought back together with the responsibilities of the state by EQUALITY, in response to today's publication of Filenews about the drug trade in the penitentiary.
Among other things, the organization of the prison guards points out that: Ina cell 20 and 30 prisoners are stacked, as a result of which we reach the point where they sleep on ''potato crates'', while the wings are sprayed for bedbugs.

We read today's report on the overcrowding in the Central Prisons and the heap of drug convictions. The numbers are impressive, but in the end they serve the narrative of the Prison Administration and the Ministry just fine, serving as the perfect excuse for their inaction.
The message they convey indirectly is: "The Police arrest, the courts impose sentences, so it is logical and inevitable that we drown."
But the truth is much darker. For 8 months now we have been constantly hearing announcements about the construction of new prisons. Only words, meetings upon meetings and postponements of plans from month to month, but absolutely no action.
They just stack people, without any real plan. The situation has gone beyond all limits of human dignity: 20 and 30 prisoners are crammed into one cell, while the wings are sprayed for bed bugs.
With this tactic, the Administration and the Ministry do not just prove their incompetence, but also put both the staff and the prisoners themselves in immediate and daily danger. The conditions are now explosive.
Fellow prison guards are left helpless to manage this chaos and play their heads every day, trying to keep the balance in a time bomb.
The numbers on the papers are easy to read from the air-conditioned desks. So let those in charge stop hiding behind the alibi of YKAN and the courts and finally assume their own responsibilities before we mourn victims. Our tolerance has run out.
