The Association of Depositors of Laiki Bank (SYKALA) has received an assurance from the President of the Republic that there will be a disbursement in 2026 as well, but the amounts and percentages have not yet been determined.
According to an announcement by the Association to its members, President Nikos Christodoulides contacted the president of SYKALA by phone on Sunday and informed him that a new disbursement would be made.
As clarified, no amounts, percentages or other details have been determined, as these are expected to be decided and announced soon, after the necessary consultations.
SYKALA notes that in 2025 a disbursement was achieved, on the basis of the common understanding that had been formed with the President of the Republic. He adds that this year he has intensified his efforts, with the aim of following up accordingly.
It was preceded by a meeting at the Presidential Palace
The telephone conversation followed a meeting between SYKALAS and President Christodoulides last Wednesday.
The meeting took place after it was confirmed, at a meeting of the Committee of the National Solidarity Fund, that no disbursement plan was foreseen for 2026.
"Our reaction was immediate and intense, in all directions," says SYKALA, adding that during the meeting at the Presidential Palace "intense efforts were made and exercised that seem to have begun to bear fruit".
The Association thanked the President of the Republic "for the constructive and bridging attitude he showed in our meeting and in his subsequent actions that continue".
At the same time, he assured its members that efforts will continue uninterrupted, despite the obstacles that arise from time to time.
