DANGER SIGNAL FOR PHONE SCAM - ''IF YOU RECEIVE SUCH A CALL, END IT IMMEDIATELY'' - Filenews 6/8


The Bank of Cyprus draws attention to ongoing incidents of telephone fraud, advising citizens what to watch out for and how to act. As underlined, Bank of Cyprus, PayPal and other legitimate organizations will never ask for phone codes or other sensitive information or money transfers.

This is its message to its customers:

We would like to inform you about ongoing incidents of telephone fraud, where fraudsters pretend to represent PayPal or other Organizations.

Bank of Cyprus, PayPal and other legitimate organizations will NEVER ask you over the phone for 1Bank Codes, OTP Codes or Verification Codes, Card Details, Remote Access to your device or Transfer money to a "secure account".

Be especially careful if you are also called:

• Claim that there is suspicious activity in your PayPal account or another account.

• They ask you for your bank passwords, your full card details, One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or Verification Codes (VC)

• They urge you to transfer your money to a "secure account" or other "destination".

• They ask you to install remote access apps or software on your device.

Remember:

• If you receive such a call, end it immediately

• NEVER share details such as your bank passwords, card details, PIN, One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or Verification Codes (VCs) that you receive on your mobile phone.

• NEVER install a remote access application or software on your devices, following instructions from third parties.
