The registered cases of theft and burglary in the first half of 2026 amounted to 723, according to official police statistics.
In the first half of 2026, a total of 449 burglary cases were registered, of which 302 were investigated.
The data per city:
In Nicosia, 85 cases were registered and 63 were investigated, while in Limassol 162 were registered and 114 were investigated.
In Larnaca, 87 cases were registered and 55 were investigated, and in Paphos 52 and 34, respectively.
In Famagusta, 46 cases were registered and 34 were investigated, while in Morphou, 17 were registered and two were investigated.
In terms of thefts, a total of 274 cases were registered in the first half of 2026, of which 134 were investigated.
In Nicosia, 68 cases of theft were registered and 37 were investigated, while in Limassol 89 were registered and 50 were investigated.
In Larnaca, 52 cases were registered and 14 were investigated, and in Paphos 37 and 21 respectively.
In Famagusta, 18 cases of theft were registered and eight were investigated, while in Morphou, 10 were registered and four were investigated.
As far as previous years are concerned, according to Police data, in 2023 1.091 burglary cases were registered, of which 644 were investigated.
In 2024, 966 burglary cases were registered and 605 were investigated, while in 2025 930 were registered and 609 were investigated.
In terms of thefts, 583 cases were registered in 2023, of which 269 were investigated.
In 2024, 632 cases of theft were registered and 306 were investigated, while in 2025 579 were registered and 273 were investigated.
Annual police data show a downward trend in burglary cases in the three-year period 2023-2025. Their number fell from 1.091 in 2023 to 966 in 2024 and to 930 in 2025, while during the first half of 2026 449 cases were registered.
In thefts, the picture fluctuates. Registered cases amounted to 583 in 2023, increased to 632 in 2024 and decreased to 579 in 2025, while in the first half of 2026 274 cases were registered.
