A sum of money close to €43,000 and drugs were found by members of the police in two houses they searched in Paphos in which foreigners live. The tenant of a third house who was also investigated attacked and injured two police officers.
Simultaneous searches of three houses and a premises in the province of Paphos were carried out late yesterday afternoon by members of the teams of the Anti-Narcotics Service and the Information Management and Analysis Service. For days, they had obtained information that the foreigners who lived in them were involved in the possession and trafficking of large quantities of drugs.
The first search was carried out in a luxury apartment in which a 35-year-old African man lives. €42.500 euros in cash, 345 British pounds, 40 Danish kroner, a quantity of cannabis with a gross weight of 89 grams, 1.133 ecstasy tablets and 90 capsules of anabolic substances were located and confiscated.
In a subsequent search of his vehicle, another five grams of cannabis were found. In the morning he appeared at the Paphos court and requested the issuance of a detention order for six days. Despite the fact that such a large amount of money was found in his possession, the African applied for legal aid from the republic. The court will decide on Monday whether to grant his request after a report from the district welfare office is submitted. Until then, he remains in custody.
In a second search, at the home of a 40-year-old woman from Russia, a quantity of cannabis weighing 3,5 grams was found and confiscated. The 40-year-old was charged in writing and released and will be summoned before a court later.
The tenant of the third residence, also a 35-year-old African, became furious as soon as the police tried to check the residence with a court order. He attacked the police, injuring two of them.
The members of the force, after receiving first aid at the Paphos hospital, were discharged, while nothing illegal was found in the residence. The 35-year-old was arrested, charged in writing and released.

The young motorcyclist who allegedly attacked and beat a driver is in the hands of the Police, in an incident that took place on Friday at noon in the area of Agios Athanasios
The incident was recorded on video, which circulated on social media and caused reactions. In the video, a half-naked man can be seen ferociously attacking another person, while a motorcycle is on the ground. The alleged perpetrator is then seen getting back on the motorcycle and walking away from the scene.
According to information, the attack was preceded by a slight collision between the motorcycle and the vehicle in front. An intense incident ensued, with the motorcyclist allegedly attacking the driver of the vehicle and beating him to the ground. It should be noted that the driver had violated the traffic code before the incident.
After the incident, the driver was transported by ambulance to a private hospital in Limassol for treatment after suffering head injuries.
The Police, after examinations, managed to locate the young man, who was arrested and taken into custody.
A case of joint assault is being investigated against him, while the case file is expected to be forwarded to the Legal Service for instructions on the further handling of the case.
The circumstances under which the incident took place, as well as what exactly preceded the attack, are being investigated by the Police.

Eight persons were arrested as part of targeted preventive police operations carried out in the evening throughout Cyprus, with the aim of preventing criminal acts, maintaining public order and enhancing the sense of security of citizens.
According to the Police, the arrests related to various offenses, including burglary of a building, possession of burglary tools, possession of drugs, illegal stay on the territory of the Republic and driving under the influence of alcohol.
During the operations, checks were carried out on 695 vehicles and 916 persons, while 58 inspections of premises were carried out at the same time, which resulted in six complaints of violations.
As part of the traffic checks, a total of 340 complaints were made for traffic violations, while 12 more cases related to traffic violations are being investigated. At the same time, the Police proceeded to detain 22 vehicles.
Of the traffic complaints, 83 concerned exceeding the speed limit, while 29 complaints were recorded for driving under the influence of alcohol.
A total of 336 alcohol tests were carried out on drivers, from which the relevant complaints emerged, while eight preliminary drug tests were carried out, resulting in two cases of driving under the influence of drugs.
The Police states that crime prevention and suppression operations will continue daily, with an enhanced presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action to protect citizens and ensure public order.

A case of attempted arson of a car is being investigated in Limassol by the Police, who proceeded to arrest a 19-year-old woman as part of the police examinations.
According to the data under investigation, around 11.45 pm on 28/08/2026, a 63-year-old man found that his car was damaged by the rear left wheel, while the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of the apartment building where he lives, in Limassol.
From the examinations carried out by members of the Police at the scene, it was found that the damage was caused after an attempt to set fire to the vehicle.
As part of the investigation of the case, testimony emerged against the 19-year-old. She was located by members of the Police and arrested with a court warrant, shortly before 6.00 yesterday afternoon.
This morning, the 19-year-old was brought before the Limassol District Court, which issued a five-day detention order, for the purpose of investigating the case.

The Police are investigating a case of negligent and reckless acts, in relation to the injury of two persons aged 32 and 38, by a fire that broke out while refueling their car, at a gas station in the province of Larnaca, on the night of 28/08/2026. As part of the investigation of the case, the 38-year-old was arrested, with the Kofinos Regional Police Station continuing the examinations.
Specifically, around 11.45 pm on 28/08/2026, the 32-year-old and 38-year-old went with the 32-year-old's car to a gas station, in the province of Larnaca, to refuel their vehicle. While refueling, while the 38-year-old was near the fuel pump, according to the data under investigation, he lit a lighter, causing an ignition and a fire.
Neighbours extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher, which caused damage to the 32-year-old's car and the refueling engine.
Members of the Police and the Fire Service, as well as an ambulance crew, who transported the 32-year-old and 38-year-old to the Larnaca General Hospital, went to the scene for examinations.
The medical examinations revealed that the 32-year-old had a superficial burn on his left arm and after receiving treatment he was discharged. The 38-year-old had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his legs and right arm and was taken to Nicosia General Hospital for treatment. However, yesterday morning 29/08/2026, at his own request, the 38-year-old was discharged.
Later yesterday, around 3.30 in the afternoon, the 38-year-old went to Larnaca airport, with the intention of departing for the country where he lives permanently. At the airport, members of the Police proceeded to arrest him, pursuant to a court warrant, which had been issued for the purpose of investigating the case.
Following his arrest, due to the severity of his injuries, the 38-year-old was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was kept for treatment, in the Burns ICU. His health condition is out of danger.
