A campaign was carried out by the Paphos traffic police in the Polis Chrysochous apartment. According to a police announcement, between the hours of 1600 and 1900, members of the Paphos traffic police carried out a coordinated operation in order to prevent road traffic collisions and combat juvenile delinquency.
79 traffic complaints were filed, including 15 for speeding, 1 drug test and 1 breathalyzer test.
Six cars, a large motorcycle and a personal mobility device were seized.
Among the reported were three minors for underage driving.

In the context of investigating a case concerning the offenses of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, threats, as well as reckless and dangerous driving, the Police proceeded to arrest a 23-year-old man.
According to the data under examination, the 23-year-old was yesterday afternoon in a car repair shop in an area of the Nicosia district, where he allegedly shouted and threatened other people who were in the area.
Members of the Police were called to the scene and upon their arrival, the 23-year-old entered his vehicle. Then, after starting at speed, he dragged a 43-year-old bystander, causing injuries to his legs and elbows.
An arrest warrant was obtained against the 23-year-old, pursuant to which he was arrested today in the early hours of the morning and taken into custody for the purpose of facilitating investigations. The Pera Chorio Police Station continues the examinations.

Continuation of the repatriation actions of third-country nationals was given today by the Police, specifically the Aliens and Immigration Service - YAM.
A total of 75 people left to return to their countries of origin, through the procedures of voluntary and forced return.
Since the beginning of the year, through various forced and voluntary repatriation operations, a total of 5,106 third-country nationals have been returned to their countries of origin.
It is also worth noting that migration flows have also decreased significantly, with the number of migrants who have arrived in Cyprus this year amounting to 818 persons. During the same period in 2025, the corresponding number of migrant arrivals had reached 1,120 persons.
The Police continues the actions to maximize the number of repatriations of third-country nationals residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus, in coordination with the Deputy Ministry of Migration.

Six people, three 19-year-olds, a 27-year-old, a 26-year-old and a 20-year-old, were arrested yesterday on court warrants and taken into custody, to facilitate investigations regarding an investigated case of kidnapping a 20-year-old man in the province of Famagusta and claiming property with threats.
Specifically, on July 29, 2026, it was reported to the Police that on the same day around 7.20 pm, a 20-year-old man was kidnapped in the province of Famagusta.
According to the data under investigation, the 20-year-old allegedly met with a group of people at a specific point in the province of Famagusta to discuss issues that concerned them.
According to the complaint, the above persons allegedly demanded money from the complainant and threatened him. They then placed him in a car and drove him in an unknown direction, while shortly after midnight on July 30, 2026, the perpetrators released the 20-year-old at a point in the province of Famagusta.
Following a coordinated operation by the TAE Famagusta, the YDAP Larnaca and the OPE Larnaca, the above six persons were arrested in the province of Larnaca and taken into custody.
The six arrested are expected to be brought before the Famagusta District Court this morning, which will meet in Larnaca, for the procedure for issuing detention orders.
The TAE of Famagusta continues the exams.

320 breathalyzer tests were conducted with 21 people being found positive for driving under the influence of alcohol
The presence and action of the Police was intense last night, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols being carried out in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the public's sense of security.
The result of the preventive policing operations was the arrest of ten people, for various offenses, including attempted murder, causing actual bodily harm, conspiracy to commit a felony, kidnapping, illegal possession of drugs and illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
During the night, 590 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 788 drivers and passengers were checked. 43 inspections of premises were carried out in parallel, resulting in 1 complaint. During the traffic inspections carried out, 382 complaints were made for various traffic violations, of which 51 concerned speeding. A total of 320 alcohol tests were carried out, during which 21 drivers tested positive. One drug test was also carried out with a positive result.
Also, as part of the police examinations, 20 vehicles were seized. Policing operations to prevent and suppress crime continue daily, with an enhanced police presence, targeted inspections and direct operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.

An important decision was issued on July 30, 2026 by the Paphos District Court, by which it declared a power of attorney document invalid from the outset, due to fraud in the form of a forgery of the deceased's signature and illegal certification of his signature, while also annulling the transfers of 23 properties of great value that had been carried out, based on the specific document. Following a long hearing and after evaluating all the evidence presented, the Court accepted, as reliable and convincing, the testimony presented by the Plaintiff, administrator of the deceased's estate, and rejected the testimony of the Defendant/his daughter and her witnesses. In particular, the Court accepted the testimony of the Plaintiff and his witnesses and concluded that the disputed power of attorney document, by which the Defendant transferred the 23 properties first in her name and then immediately to her children, was a forgery since it was never signed by the deceased and, in addition, it was used fraudulently, without his knowledge or consent.
The Court decided that all Defendants, including the certifying officer, who violated his obligations under the law by falsely certifying that the deceased signed the power of attorney in his presence, acted together and implemented their plan which was the fraudulent alienation of the property of the 23 properties. The Court attached particular importance to the specialized expert opinion submitted to the Court, based on which it was judged that both the full handwriting and the disputed signatures on the power of attorney were not genuine and were the product of an imitation of the deceased’s signature.
Furthermore, the Court ruled that the civil offenses of fraud and conspiracy to defraud against the deceased and his estate were proven. As a result, the Court declared the power of attorney null and void ab initio, annulled all the transfer declarations that had been registered with the Paphos District Land Office and ordered the re-registration of the 23 properties in the name of the deceased, through the administrator of his estate. At the same time, it decided that the decision be notified to the Attorney General of the Republic for examination of the possibility of committing criminal offenses.
The decision is considered particularly important, as it reaffirms that the use of forged documents for the transfer of real estate does not produce legal effects and that the Cypriot courts have effective means to restore legality and protect the property of citizens even when many years have passed since the disputed acts. At the same time, the increased obligations of certifying officials in the exercise of their duties and the serious civil and possibly criminal consequences that may arise in the event of a breach of their obligations were underlined. The Plaintiff was represented before the Paphos District Court by Antonis Glykis, Partner in the Litigation Department, with Katerina Andreou and Jason Telemachou, Senior Associates of the law firm ILIAS NEOKLEOUS & CO. The Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with an ongoing case of assault and injury to a 19-year-old man, which was committed today in Limassol.
According to what the 19-year-old told members of the Police, at around 1.30 this morning, while he was outside a building in Limassol, he was attacked with a knife by a 20-year-old man, resulting in his injury. The 19-year-old was transferred to a private hospital, where according to the doctor on duty he has bruises on his head and shoulder blade. The 19-year-old was stitched up and was detained for treatment, with his health condition considered out of danger.
A court warrant was issued against the 20-year-old, pursuant to which he was arrested and detained to facilitate interrogations. This morning he was brought before the Limassol District Court, which issued a four-day detention order. The Limassol District Court continues the examinations.

No decision was made yesterday on whether to grant permission to the 30-year-old Bulgarian to attend the funeral of his children, ages 8 and 10, who were found dead in their stepmother’s car in Xylofagou on the afternoon of June 28.
Due to legal issues raised by the father’s lawyer, which once again highlight the serious issues that arise when criminal proceedings are conducted in the BB, the judge said he would announce his decision in a few days. Meanwhile, the bodies of the children remain in the BB for more than a month and are expected to be transferred to Bulgaria, at the expense of the Cypriot government, following the Court's decision on the request submitted by the father

The Famagusta Permanent Criminal Court has found a 20-year-old guilty of attempted murder, rape and assault causing actual bodily harm, in connection with an attack on a 26-year-old woman at a hotel in the Famagusta district in August 2024.
According to the decision, the defendant attempted to kill the 26-year-old, raped her while she was unconscious and then abandoned her covered in blood, believing her to be dead.
His sentence will be announced at a future hearing.
Specifically, the Famagusta Permanent Criminal Court today found a 20-year-old defendant guilty of the offenses of attempted murder, rape and assault causing actual bodily harm, in relation to an incident that occurred in the early hours of August 31, 2024, at a hotel in the Famagusta district.
According to the findings of the Court, the defendant and the 26-year-old complainant met at a nightclub and then went to the hotel where the latter was staying. When the complainant refused to consent to full sexual intercourse, the defendant launched a particularly violent attack against her and raped her. The Criminal Court ruled that the defendant's actions demonstrated an intent to kill her.
It should be noted that the complainant was rushed to the hospital, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and remained for 48 hours, until she was out of danger, while she was subsequently hospitalized for several more days, before being discharged.
The conviction was based on the complainant's reliable testimony, which was reinforced by forensic and scientific findings, DNA tests, testimonies of independent witnesses and CCTV footage, leading the Court to reject the defendant's version as unreliable.

Two individuals, aged 41 and 30, have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a 43-year-old man, which was committed on July 29 in Nicosia.
According to the Police, as part of the investigation into the case, arrest warrants were issued against the two individuals, who were arrested at Larnaca Airport upon their arrival in Cyprus.
It is recalled that the 43-year-old had reported to the Nicosia Police Station that, while driving a rented vehicle in an area of the capital, he was shot several times. Despite the attack, he was not injured.
During the investigation of the case, members of the Nicosia Police Station and the Criminal Investigation Service of the Police Headquarters conducted examinations at the scene and in the vehicle driven by the 43-year-old, where evidence was located and received.
The evidence has been sent for scientific and laboratory tests, while the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department continues its investigations to fully investigate the case.

The Larnaca Police are investigating a case of assault against a police officer, causing actual damage, reckless or dangerous driving and other offences.
Specifically, at around 7:30 yesterday afternoon, while a member of Team Z was carrying out a traffic control on Ankyras Street in Larnaca, he signaled a motorcycle driver to stop.
The motorcycle driver ignored the relevant signal and after speeding up, hit the police officer and then left the scene. An ambulance was called to the scene and transported the police officer to Larnaca General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a serious right hand injury, and was subsequently discharged with instructions.
The Minor Offenses Department and the Larnaca Traffic Police are continuing their investigations to identify the driver of the motorcycle.
