The EOA of Famagusta and Neuranet Solutions Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the prevention and early detection of fires, through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Today's announcement of the EOA Famagusta states that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Tuesday, August 11. "The cooperation is based on the successful contribution of the EOA Famagusta to date in the development and testing of the PyroGuard AI early fire warning system, which utilized, already in the early stages of its development, strategic locations in the province of Famagusta," it states.

These locations, it is added, due to their geographical location and altitude, offer extensive visibility over large areas, contributing substantially to the early detection of smoke and fires.

"The success of the initial installations has been instrumental in the further development and expansion of the PyroGuard AI network across Cyprus, highlighting the important role that local authorities can play in promoting innovative solutions with a substantial environmental and social impact," it adds.

The President of EOA Famagusta, Yiannis Karousos, stated that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding "confirms our commitment to support innovation and utilize technologies that enhance the security and resilience of our province and country".

At the time of the signing, Neuranet Solutions Ltd was represented by its Founder and CEO William Demetriou.
