Several households continue to face problems that have not been able to tune in to the new HELLAS SAT platform, which operates on DVB-T2, so that they can watch channels on their TV.
It is recalled that the change occurred on July 1, 2026 and concerns the upgrade of digital terrestrial television to newer transmission technology, as DVB-T2 is more modern than DVB-T.
DVB-T2 allows:
Better picture and sound quality
More TV Channels
More efficient use of frequencies.
How it works
According to Hellas Sat, in three simple steps you can enjoy digital TV:
Check compatibility
Make sure your TV supports DVB-T2 or get an external tuner.Connect the antenna
Connect a UHF antenna to your TV to receive the DVB-T2 signal.
Scan for Channels
Perform automatic channel search and enjoy free digital TV.
Essentially, the steps we need to follow depend on the equipment we have. If your TV is modern (usually after 2017) and supports DVB-T2, only a simple retuning of the channels is required. If your device is of older technology, you will need to get a DVB-T2 set-top box that costs around €20-50 or replace your TV with a new TV with DVB-T2.
For automatic tuning
Go to your TV settings
Select "Auto Channel Search" or "Auto Tune"
Select "DVB-T" or "Antenna" as the signal source
Start the search and wait for it to complete
Save found channels
How do I manually search for channels
• From the remote control press the MENU
button• Go to settings
• At the search point, select the manual
one• For package 1: set channel 35
• For package 2: set channel 48
For the free Famagusta area:
• For package 1: set channel 23
• For package 2: set channel 26
Why problems arise
As the CEO of Hellas Sat, Christodoulos Protopapas, told Filenews, a small percentage of households are facing a problem with their antennas. He explained that with the new DVB-T2 system, more image is transferred through the cables, so there may be some problems in old installations. Also, as he said, in the case of installations with amplifiers on the antennas, a problem arises due to the fact that the Hellas Sat signal is strong.
Essentially, according to the decision-makers, the problem is observed in houses with old installations, or poor quality TVs and set-top boxes.
What should I do if I don't see channels after switching
Steps:
• Retune channels
• Check if the TV or set-top box supports DVB-T2
• Check cables and antenna
• If the problem persists, contact a technician or the call center.
