Reactions were caused in the morning in Paphos by the fact that one of the reference points of the annual statements condemning the treacherous coup, the sound of the sirens, was absent this time.
At 8.20 in the morning, the time of the coup d'état on July 15, 1974, the participants in the event of remembrance and honour that took place in the area of the free radio station of Paphos waited in vain. The sirens in Paphos remained silent, which caused protests from several, including the vice president of DIKO, Paphos MP Chrysanthos Savvidis, who spoke of a continuous downgrading of the anti-coup events, in contrast to the anti-Turkish invasion events.
On the part of some representatives of state departments, there was talk of a possible technical problem, but the protesters insisted that there should be an investigation and an official explanation for this fact.
