The upgrade of the small port of Kato Paphos has now been put on the rails, with the preparatory work having started recently. The bodies involved in the issue have already had the first contacts for the preparation of the strategic planning, in which the Municipality of Paphos, the Ports Authority, the Department of Fisheries, the Port Police and representatives of the local community bodies that are professionally active in the sea and land area of the port participate.
In these preparatory contacts, according to information from "F", issues related to the operation and upgrading of the port are discussed extensively. At the heart of these changes are, among other things, the prospect of expanding the jetty with the aim of enhancing the protection of vessels, as well as the improvement of infrastructure to facilitate the mooring of cruise ships, contributing to the further upgrading of the port.
At the same time, issues related to professional fishermen, coastal shipping and in general the need for more effective management of the premises and the operation of the port are on the table.
This preliminary engagement with the future of the small port of Kato Paphos, the Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, stressed yesterday to "F", began and continues in a very constructive atmosphere, with a common willingness to cooperate from all stakeholders, with the aim of promoting substantial solutions and solving long-standing problems that affect the region.
