The operation of a new digital service for the electronic submission of applications for the renewal of specific categories of residence permits of third-country nationals, was announced by the Deputy Ministry of Migration and the Deputy Ministry of Research and Innovation
According to the announcement, the service is aimed at third-country nationals who reside legally in the Republic of Cyprus and wish to renew their residence permit.
It also concerns employers who submit applications for renewal of their employees, as well as authorised representatives, such as organisations, law firms or other natural and legal persons acting on behalf of the parties concerned.
At this stage, the service covers applications for the renewal of temporary residence permits for salaried and domestic employment, as well as for employees of Foreign Interest Companies.
At the same time, it concerns applications for the renewal of residence permits for family reunification purposes and long-term resident permits.
It is also underlined that the new digital service concerns, for the time being, renewals of existing licenses and not initial applications.
Through the service, beneficiaries can electronically submit the renewal application and the required supporting documents, as well as manage any authorization to a representative.
At the same time, they have the opportunity to be informed about the progress of the application, to pay the prescribed fees electronically and to choose the service point for the next stages of the process and the receipt of the license.
As clarified in the announcement, physical presence will be required only in the stages where this is provided, in particular for obtaining a signature and biometrics.
According to the announcement, with its full operation, the new service is estimated to cover 73% of renewal applications for the specific categories of residence permits, 60% of all applications for the same categories, including first registrations and renewals, as well as 25% of all applications for all categories of residence permits.
