THE FIRE IN NEO CHORIO, PAPHOS IS FROM EMERY - A CITIZEN ADMITTED AND REPORTED IT - Filenews 30/6
Following a previous announcement regarding a forest fire in the community of Neo Chorio in the province of Paphos, the Department of Forests informs the public that the fire was caused by the use of emery (Flex). The user admitted to the use of the tool and a formal complaint was registered in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The Department of Forests appeals to the public to strictly avoid the use of such tools, especially during days when high temperatures and/or strong winds prevail.
The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment reminds the public that from June 1st to September 30th, it is prohibited without the written permission of the Director, during the period from June 1st to September 30th, in a state forest or within the zone of two kilometers (2 km) from its demarcation line, the use in the open air of a tool, machine, apparatus or other equipment for cutting or welding metals or other materials which, when used, cause heat, flame or spark and may cause fire.
