Six closed-type trailers were received by the Fire Service, in the framework of the "EPIKOPTOSIS" project of the Interreg VI-A Greece – Cyprus 2021-2027 Program.
The new mobile technical rescue units will be allocated one by one to each District Directorate of Fire Stations and have specialized equipment to deal with natural and other disasters.
Their procurement is expected to enhance the operational readiness and speed of response of the Fire Service throughout the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, while assistance is provided to other countries, if necessary.
The process of equipping the trailed units is carried out by the Special Disaster Response Unit, under the supervision of the commander of EMAK, Pyragos Charalambos Charalambous.
The works were inspected by Chief Fire Marshal Nikos Longinos.
The project "EPIKEIROSIS" is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and national resources of Greece and Cyprus, through the Interreg VI-A Cooperation Programme Greece – Cyprus 2021–2027.
