The repeated vandalism on the dog beach in the area of Kassianes (Spyros Beach) south of Larnaca Airport is causing great outrage, since brainless people either steal or break the beds placed by the Municipality, in order to provide facilities to those who visit the area.
This beach was upgraded two years ago, after the Municipality of Larnaca placed sunbeds and umbrellas for use by bathers accompanying their dogs to the sea. However, because nonsense has no limits, some people stole beds, which were replaced at the request of the beach volunteers, who stay in the area throughout the day. At night, however, the reins are taken by the brainless who destroy the equipment.
The issue was shared through a post by one of the volunteers on the beach, Christina Agapiou, who did not hide her anger and indignation about what is happening on the dog beach.
Her post is as it is
We asked for free cots and umbrellas for the dog beach and the Town Hall responded to our request. Unfortunately, however, some have proven that they cannot respect even what is offered to them for free. First they stole the cots. The City Hall replaced them, showing goodwill. And now some have broken them. This is neither "bravado" nor a joke. It is vandalism, lack of education and absolute disrespect for public property and for all those who use the beach.
Is this how you behave in your home? Are you breaking your furniture? If not, then why are you destroying what belongs to all of us?
A big "thumbs up" to the one or those who felt important by destroying public property. I hope the moment of the so-called "bravado" was worth it, because due to your own irresponsibility it is very likely that we will never see beds on the beach again that are for our dogs! It is unfair for us volunteers to deprive them because you are brainless!
When some people ask for better infrastructure and more benefits, remember that these require respect. Because when you destroy what is offered to you, you are not only depriving yourself. You deprive everyone else of the right to enjoy a beautiful and well-kept public space.
Public property is not foreign property. It is the property of all of us. And whoever vandalizes it, does not damage the City Hall. It is doing damage to the whole of society. It is unfair to us beach volunteers, who take care of the best conditions of our four-legged friends!!
