Around 4.30 a.m. today a fire broke out in a car, which was parked outside the house of its 59-year-old owner, in a village in the province of Nicosia.
The fire was extinguished by the Fire Service, however the vehicle was completely destroyed.
From the first examinations carried out at the scene, it appears that the fire was set maliciously

The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.
As a result of the preventive policing operations, 8 persons were arrested, for various offenses including illegal possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal stay.
During the night, 511 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 652 drivers and passengers were checked. At the same time, 58 inspections of premises were carried out, from which 8 complaints emerged.
During traffic checks carried out, 329 complaints were made about various traffic violations, of which 96 concern driving at excessive speed. A total of 291 alcohol tests were performed, with 30 positive results, as well as 10 preliminary drug tests with 6 positive results. Also, as part of the police examinations, 22 vehicles were detained.
Policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue every day, with an enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, in order to protect citizens and ensure public order.

Three persons were arrested yesterday by the Police, to facilitate investigations into an investigated case of burglary of three houses and theft, committed in the province of Limassol.
The case was reported to the Police on 03/07/2026, by a 67-year-old man, according to whom five air conditioners and compressors, as well as solar water heaters, were stolen from a complex of three uninhabited houses that he maintains. According to the complainant, near the residential complex he found a parked vehicle, inside which there were air conditioner units and an unknown person running away.
As part of the investigation of the case, testimony was secured against three persons aged 23, 21 and 18. Arrest warrants were issued against them, under which they were arrested yesterday and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

Two persons aged 17 and 18 were arrested yesterday by members of the Police, for the self-inflicted crime of illegal possession of property. Two motorcycles were found in their possession, which did not have registration plates.
The two arrested were located around 8 p.m. yesterday, on a Paphos road, riding motorcycles that did not have registration numbers. They were stopped by members of the Police for a check and questioned about the two motorcycles did not give satisfactory explanations for their origin. Therefore, they were arrested for the self-inflicted crime of illegal possession of property.
