The 29-year-old who was wanted to facilitate investigations into an investigated case of illegal possession of drugs, offenses committed on July 21, 2026, in the province of Paphos, was located and arrested.

Shortly before midnight, information was received to the Police about a fight in an area near the Tsirio Stadium in Limassol.

Members of the Police went to the scene, where they found a 21-year-old person injured. The injured man was taken to the Limassol General Hospital, where he was found to have suffered a back injury (possibly from a knife) and was detained for stitching up his wound.

Subsequently, after searches in the area by members of the Police, two persons were identified, one of whom was in possession of a metal chain and was arrested for the self-inflicted crime of possession of an offensive instrument.

Both persons did not have any documents in their possession and were arrested for the self-inflicted crime of verifying their details.

Subsequently, it was found that they are a 21-year-old and a 15-year-old.

The examinations continue from the TAE of Limassol.

The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.

As a result of the preventive police operations, nine persons were arrested for offenses such as carrying cutlery, illegal possession of drugs, illegal possession of property, causing grievous bodily harm, illegal stay in the Republic, driving under the influence of alcohol, etc.

As part of these operations, during the night, 727 drivers and 372 passengers were stopped and checked. At the same time, 102 inspections of premises were carried out, with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency, where 23 complaints emerged.

During traffic checks carried out, 323 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations, while 18 investigated cases of traffic violations also emerged.

Of the complaints made, 90 driver complaints for exceeding the speed limit stand out, while as part of the police examinations, 22 vehicles were detained. 453 alcohol tests were carried out, where 38 complaints emerged, while five drivers tested positive in preliminary drug tests.

Policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue daily, with an increased/enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing the sense of security of citizens/protecting citizens and ensuring public order.

A convict of the Central Prisons, a 56-year-old European citizen, who was on an approved exit permit to visit his family in Paphos, was arrested in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, July 26, 2026, in connection with an investigated case of burglary of a restaurant and theft of a sum of approximately €6.000.

After his arrest, he was taken into custody and is expected to be brought before the Paphos District Court today, where a detention order will be requested for the purpose of investigating the case.

The 56-year-old is serving a six-year prison sentence for stealing from a servant and money laundering. Having served more than half of his sentence, he had joined the Center for Guidance, Non-Institutional Employment and Rehabilitation of Prisoners. The exit permit had been granted in the context of this program and in accordance with the Prison Regulations.

At the same time, the Central Prisons immediately activate the prescribed procedures in relation to his participation in the program and the status of serving his sentence.
