ASSISTANCE FROM CYPRUS TO FRANCE - Pafos Live 6/7

In response to a request from France, submitted through the RescEU Mechanism, the Republic of Cyprus is sending two aerial firefighting vehicles – an air tractor, to assist the French authorities' effort to deal with large fires raging in the country.

An announcement issued by the Ministry of Interior on Sunday night states that the two aircraft being sent are leased to the Republic of Cyprus by the European Union through the RescEU Mechanism and are stationed in Cyprus.

RescEU is the European Civil Protection Reserve Mechanism, activated to support Member States in responding to major disasters.
