Wizz Air is increasing its capacity from its base in Larnaca earlier than originally planned, adding 57,500 additional seats for the months of August and September 2026.
The airline said the decision reflects stronger-than-expected demand and reaffirms its commitment to the Cypriot market.
According to the company, of the additional positions, 24,500 are for August and 33,000 for September, compared to the original plan.
The expanded flight schedule is expected to enhance Cyprus' connectivity with important markets in Europe and the wider region.
The extra capacity is allocated to high-demand routes, such as Athens, Barcelona, Bucharest, Tel Aviv, Kutaisi and Iasi.
A key change is the earlier resumption of the Larnaca – Athens route, which will start on August 13 with 10 flights per week. From September 23, flights on the same route will increase to 14 weekly.
On the Larnaca – Barcelona route, flights will increase from three to four per week from 1 September, while on the Larnaca – Bucharest route frequencies will increase from five to seven per week from the same date.
A significant increase is also planned on the Larnaca - Tel Aviv route, where flights will increase from seven to 11 per week from August 13. Additional frequencies will be added to the routes to Kutaisi and Iasi.
Wizz Air reports that the increase in capacity reflects its confidence in the continued growth of Cyprus as an inbound tourism destination and as an outbound travel market.
At the same time, he notes that the changes offer passengers more flexibility, better connectivity and more affordable travel options during the summer season and early autumn.
András Szabó, Network Officer East of Wizz Air, said that Cyprus is a particularly important market for the company, in which it continues to invest and develop its network.
"Passenger demand exceeded our initial forecasts, which led us to the decision to restore the connection with Athens earlier and strengthen our flight schedule," he said.
As he added, with the addition of 57,500 additional seats and the increase in frequencies on some of the most popular routes, the company offers more travel options while supporting connectivity, tourism and the economic development of Cyprus.
The additional flights are already available for booking via the Wizz Air website and the WIZZ mobile app.
