UPDATE REGARDING TRAVEL FOR THE EASTERN MED AND CYPRUS FROM THE UK

UPDATE REGARDING TRAVEL FOR THE EASTERN MED AND CYPRUS FROM THE UK - Filenews 18/6

Following the signing of a US-Iran agreement for the immediate cessation of hostilities and the de-escalation of the crisis in the Persian Gulf, the British Foreign Office renewed its travel advice for the countries of the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, including Cyprus.

"The intention of the Foreign Office is to show that there is a de-escalation of the crisis," a senior diplomatic source stressed, underlining that such a development is likely to help even more tourist travel to the region.

It is worth noting that this is the second time in a few days that the British Foreign Office has essentially upgraded the image of Cyprus in terms of travel safety.

At the beginning of the month, it had made another update by removing from its travel advice the warning "of an increased risk of regional tension in Cyprus which could cause travel problems and have other unforeseen effects", which had been in force since the beginning of March.
