Two years after the death of the three-month-old infant, who died on July 28, 2024, under tragic circumstances, in an apartment room in Lakatamia, her body remains unburied.
As revealed by Alpha through the show "Alpha Information", the three-month-old girl remains in the refrigerator of the morgue of the Nicosia General Hospital.
In his statements on the show, the Spokesperson of OKYPY, Charalambos Charilaou, explained that the issue touches on legal issues. In particular, he clarified that in order to give the state the right to proceed with the burial, an order must be given by the death coroner, if the trial of the parents is completed. In this case, it appears that the death investigation has not yet been completed.
He clarified that if no relatives are found who are interested in receiving the body and proceeding with the funeral and burial, then there are Metropolises that have space and perform the funeral Service.
For his part, lawyer Christos Clerides stressed that a dead infant is not a presumption for court proceedings, but the findings of each autopsy.
It is recalled that for the death of the infant, his 23-year-old father from Pakistan and his 21-year-old mother from Greece were arrested, on charges of homicide and neglect of a minor.
The infant lived in miserable conditions in an apartment-slum and even had bites on her head, legs and hands. Possibly from insects, such as ants and fleas.
The infant was in a bad condition inconceivable to the human mind, since she was underweight and obviously not being properly fed. The diaper worn by the unfortunate little girl was not changed for days and in fact the little angel had the corresponding marks on her body.
