A particularly optimistic story about wildlife was recorded by nest monitoring actions in Mammari, as part of the National Action Plan for the manbird.
According to Birdlife Cyprus, during nest monitoring activities with the Department of Forests and Bird Focus, as part of the actions of the National Action Plan for the manbird, they were faced with a particularly beautiful story.
During checks, a pair of manbirds with four young chicks that had just hatched were found in a nest near Mammari.
Checking the female's ring revealed that it was the bird with code TL00035. According to information provided by the Taşkent Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, in the village of Vouno in Pentadaktylos, this particular female was admitted to the center in December 2024 injured and in very bad condition.
After being cared for, the bird was ringed and released back into the wild in March 2025. A year later, she was found healthy in one of the nests that had been placed near Mammari, along with her mate, who was also ringed, and their four chicks.
Weighing 385 grams and in excellent condition, the manbird is a prime example of the importance of rescue, care, and wildlife conservation efforts.
After the check, both parents immediately returned to the nest, continuing to care for their chicks.
