The Ministry of Justice is expected to put scissors on the personal guard of current and former officials as the competent committee of the Police is expected to send a new recommendation to Kostas Fytiris.
Speaking on the Alpha News show, the Minister of Justice clarified that the reduction of the police guard to officials is not a personal matter for him, but this must be done according to institutional texts.
Mr. Fytiris stated that a risk assessment will be carried out by the competent police security committee, while it will then be given to the Ministry of Justice, with him submitting it to the Council of Ministers.
The Minister of Justice explained that the guard is placed after a high risk assessment for one person, while he also referred to the fact that an effort is being made to save police officers to take up duties.
"I cannot accept that police officers perform rudimentary duties while they have been trained for other duties. A key element is a risk assessment and whether these services will be provided for the benefit of the public interest," said Mr. Fytiris.
