POLICE OFFICER SUSPENDED FOR ESCAPE OF 17 YEAR OLD FROM OMORPHITA STATION - INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCIPLINARY INVESTIGATION - Filenews 13/6

Regarding a case of a 17-year-old escaping from legal detention, which took place yesterday at a Police Station in Nicosia, Mr. Themistos Arnaoutis Chief of Police, after studying the report of events submitted to him, appointed an investigating officer, to investigate a possible disciplinary case against a member of the Police.

At the same time, on the instructions of the Chief of Police, the procedures have already begun so that the specific member of the Police is suspended.

The 17-year-old, who was being held in connection with an investigated theft case, escaped yesterday late afternoon from the Omorphita Police Station.

Immediately, after the escape, a police operation was launched to locate him, with increased patrols throughout Nicosia. For the purpose of coordinating the actions to locate him, the Crisis Management Center operated on an emergency basis.

A few hours later, the 17-year-old was arrested, by virtue of a court warrant, at a Nicosia Police Station.
