MASS POISONING AT A WEDDING RECEPTION - SALMONELLA IN CHICKEN CONFIRMED - WHAT WAS FOUND IN RICE AND SPAGHETTI - Filenews 7/6

Salmonella in baked chicken with cream sauce as well as Bacillus cereus bacillus (wax bacillus) in rice with vermicelli and penne with mushrooms have been confirmed by the State Laboratory, said the Director of Health Services, Herodotos Herodotou, noting that a total of nine samples had been taken from the food that had been offered at the wedding reception at a premises in Limassol where the mass food poisoning took place last Sunday.
Mr. Herodotou said that the results of the rest of the samples sent for analysis are awaited, while he did not rule out the need for further research for toxins. Already, he said, the foods based on the findings of the State Chemical Laboratory are unsuitable.

When asked how the Health Services will proceed, he replied that the recording of the interviews taken by those affected is being completed, the report of events is expected by the Limassol district office and then they will record the final conclusion.

Then, he said, they will proceed with the case with judicial measures.

Regarding the case of a second wedding last Saturday in another premises, before Sunday's wedding, from the same catering company, Mr. Herodotou said that they have not received relevant information about it, nor has anyone contacted them about it and renewed his appeal if there is anyone who can provide information or has he himself been poisoned to do so.
