"MAFIA STATE'' - A TRUCK IS NEEDED TO TRANSPORT THE MATERIALS OF THE ANTI-CORRUPTION AUTHORITY - IT WILL BE HANDED OVER TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN THE COMING DAYS - Filenews 16/6 by Michalis Chatzivasilis

Within the next few days, the conclusion and all the witness material collected by the four inspectors of the Anti-Corruption Authority for the "Mafia State" will be delivered to the Attorney General.

Although until now in similar major cases investigated by the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, the conclusion and all the material collected by its inspectors were delivered to the Attorney General on the same day and a relevant announcement was issued, this time things worked a little the other way around. And this, according to information from Filenews, for practical reasons.
In particular, the material that has been collected has filled an entire room in the offices of the Authority and it is practically impossible to deliver it by hand and at the same time to give the report-conclusion. That is why so far the conclusion has not been given to the Attorney General nor the witness material that emerged from the investigation.

The information we have is that this will be done either by the end of the week or the beginning of the next day and after the documents and deposits are loaded onto a truck and transferred to the Legal Service. It is not excluded that the conclusion will be sent to the Attorney General or, if requested, that there will be a ceremony of handing it over. However, in the Legal Service they are ready to study the material and the conclusion and depending on the suggestions of those who will study it, decisions will be made.

The options are to be given to the Police for investigation, but they are already in charge of examining other serious cases (Trimiklinis, Sizopoulos, Parmaklis) or to appoint criminal investigators or to take over an investigative team from the Police with criminal investigators or criminal investigators to supervise.

Lawyers and others have already raised the issue of the exclusion of the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General from the study of the conclusion due to their involvement as ministers in the Government of Nicos Anastasiades, however, it is estimated that at this stage the decision that will be made is who will investigate everything that is mentioned and there will be no evaluation for possible or not, criminal prosecutions.
