The occupancy rates of hotels and other tourist accommodation in the city and district of Paphos are reduced by about 20% compared to the corresponding period last year, said the President of PASYXE, Thanos Michaelides. At the same time, he referred to measures taken to attract interest.
In his statements, Mr. Michailidis stated that for the summer months - June, July and August - occupancy rates in hotels should exceed 90% of their capacity, however he noted this year the occupancy rate is only 70%.
He added that "although there is an increasing trend from bookings, mainly last minute", however, this does not cover the gap in order to reach the normal levels for the period.
Mr. Michaelides said that this situation has prompted the industry to take measures such as support from domestic tourism, the promotion of special offers and the emphasis on maintaining high quality services, expressing the belief that these measures will continue to create interest in hotels in Cyprus.
