HOSTING FRENCH FORCES IN CYPRUS - PALMAS AND VORTREN SIGN THE SOFA AGREEMENT ON MONDAY - Filenews 7/6




A Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between the Republic of Cyprus and France will be signed on Monday in Nicosia, by the Minister of Defense Vassilis Palmas with his French counterpart, Catherine Vortren.

According to information, the Ministers of Defense and France will sign the agreement in the context of their bilateral meeting on Monday afternoon at the premises of the Filoxenia Conference Center, after the end of the informal Foreign Affairs (Defense) Council that will be hosted in Nicosia, in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the EU.

The President of the Republic had announced during the official visit to Nicosia of French President Emmanuel Macron in April, that in June, the SOFA Agreement will be signed, which will concern the hosting of French forces on Cypriot territory in the context of humanitarian operations in the region.
